Vacuum Forming

Vacuum forming is a process in which a thermoplastic sheet is heated to a pliable state and placed into or over a mold and drawn tightly against the mold with vacuum pressure to yield the desired shape.

Vacuum forming is a very cost effective method for producing small or large quantities of molded plastic parts. Molds can be relatively simple and produced from a wide variety of materials which allows parts to be produced on a high quantity basis for a relatively low cost, thus saving both time and money. In most cases, CPI offers in-house tooling for vacuum forming projects.

CPI utilizes a computer controlled four-station rotary machine. This equipment can accomodate both high and low volume production runs. Sheet size capacity of 50" x 84", allows us to manufacture a wide range of product sizes. We specialize in, but are not limited to, producing parts made of High Impact Styrene, Vinyl, Polyethylene and ABS.
